Cairns is understood to have suffered a serious medical emergency (aortic dissection) in Canberra last week. This is when there is a rift in the inner layer of the main arteries of the body.
Cairns on life support Herald noticed the infection and Cairns is now fighting for his life. He will soon be transferred to a specialized hospital in Sydney.
He underwent several surgeries during his hospital stay, but did not respond to the expected treatment, Newshaw reported.
Former Blackcaps teammate Andre Adams said on social media that his thoughts and prayers are with Cairns and his family.
Adams posted “Awesome Situation and Best Hope”.
Fans quickly expressed their support for Cairns, and many wanted him to recover quickly, reminding him of his memorable moments in New Zealand.
