Four children rushed to hospital after funfair ride collapses Dozens of children were injured, four of whom were rushed to hospital after the Fanfar landslide in Northern Ireland.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Planet Fan in the port of Carrickfergus where the big incident happened on Saturday.

Eyewitnesses heard testimony screams as the swings collided with each other during the ride.

Another said: “I just left the swing and they started going everywhere. Hit the fences, turn off the lights.

Three children were taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for sick children and one child to the Antrim Regional Hospital.

 

It is understood that their injuries are not life threatening.

The other eight children suffered injuries to their legs and back and suffered minor injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.

Four emergency teams, a rapid response carrier and an ambulance arrived at the scene.

The fanfire at Carrickfargas Castle was closed this evening.

In a statement, a spokesman for Planet Fun said: “Please note that Planet Fun will be closed for the session this evening at 5:30-10:30:30 due to unforeseen circumstances.

“All tickets will be refunded automatically. More updates will follow.

It is understood that the fun fair in the area was recently opened.

Stuart Dixon, a Member of Parliament for the East Antrim Alliance, said: “I am concerned about reports of carnival accidents on Saturday.

“I understand from the initial report that the injuries are not serious and I hope it will continue.

“As a result, the health and safety executive and the Middle and East Antrim Borough Council now need to conduct an investigation into the circumstances of what happened. ”

An air ambulance was dispatched with three fire machines, a specialized rescue team and the Red Cross.
