Subiaco and Peel Thunder do not have to wait long to resume hostilities. Lions will welcome the premier peel that will reign in the second round of the Grand Final rematch.
Other highlights include the continuation of the Dara Car Cup with the Claremont and Swan districts in the first round and the Freemantle Derby in the fifth round following last season’s entry into the South Fremantle league.
An early start date has been adopted in light of recent changes in AFL. The AFLWU19 National Championship has advanced to school holidays in April, and the AFLW Combined and AFLW Drafts have moved to the end of July 2021.

The tournament will be held by 6 teams, allowing 15 rounds of 2-by-home and away matches, with each team having 3 meetings.
Unselected AFLW players are allowed to compete in the WAFLW tournament, and many stars are expected to return to the state league once the AFLW mission is complete.
The 2021 match will be played at the WAFL venue and the date and time will be confirmed.
The three-week final series is set to begin on the weekend of June 19th, before Seven Network broadcasts the Grand Finale on the first weekend of July.

Scott Baker, executive director of WAFC, WAFL & Talent, said competition continues to gain momentum for the third season.
“The introduction of WAFLW over the last two seasons has been very successful and is a great showcase for women’s football across the state,” Baker said.
“Last season, seeing more than 400,000 people participating in livestreaming the game is a testament to the growth of competition and shows a lot of interest and support for players.

“The change in the Optus WAFLW season will allow female talent pass athletes to be very well prepared for the AFLWU 19 National Championship.
“Running at the same time as the AFLW season promotes competition and allows AFLW players to participate in the State Premier League competition even if they are not selected at the league level.” AFLW.
“We look forward to welcoming as many AFLW players as possible to the tournament later in the season once the AFLW mission is complete.”
