WHO calls for halting for halting booster shots

WHO calls for halting for halting booster shots The WHO on Wednesday called for a moratorium on the Covid-1 vaccine booster injection until at least the end of September to address the acute inequality in the distribution of doses between rich and poor countries.

WHO calls for halting for halting booster shots The director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanam, has called on countries and companies that regulate the supply of doses to change the march and guarantee more vaccines in the less wealthy states.

“I understand the concern of all governments to protect their people from the Delta alternative. But we cannot accept countries that have already used most of the world’s vaccine supply and use more than that, when the world’s weakest people are vulnerable, “Tedros told a news conference.

“We need an urgent rollback, starting with most vaccines going to high-income countries and going to low-income countries.”

More than 4.25 billion doses of the Covid-1 vaccine have been administered worldwide, according to AFP.

In high-income countries classified by the World Bank, 101 injection doses are given for every 100 people; this week the mark of 100 doses has been exceeded.

That number drops to 1.7 doses per 100 people in 29 low-income countries.

“Consequently, the WHO is calling for a moratorium on boosters at least until the end of September, so that at least 10 percent of the population in each country can be vaccinated,” Tedros said.

“To do this, we need everyone’s cooperation, especially the handful of countries and companies that control the global supply of vaccines.”

Tedros said that the G20 group of countries has an important leadership role to play because those countries are the largest producers, consumers and donors of Covid-1J work.

“It goes without saying that the trajectory of the Kovid-1 pandemic depends on the leadership of the G20,” he said.

Suspension of US Refunds

The United States on Wednesday suspended the U.N. health agency’s Covid-1 booster shot and rejected a request to focus on rich countries instead of supplying them to rich countries.

“We are convinced that this is the wrong choice and we can do both,” White House press secretary Jane Sackie told reporters.

“There is also an adequate supply in this country (for us) to ensure that all Americans can use a vaccine,” she added.

“The FDA decides that we will have adequate supplies to ensure that even a segment of the population is recommended a booster to supply them. We believe we can do both and we don’t have to make that decision. ”
